NordVPN for Smart TVs, Samsung TV, Firestick and Chrome Extension
Get NordVPN working on your living‑room devices and browsers. This guide covers Android TV, Samsung Tizen TVs, Fire TV Stick, and when to use the Chrome extension.
Android TV and Google TV
- Install NordVPN from Google Play on your TV
- Sign in and connect to a nearby server (NordLynx for speed)
- For streaming reliability, try a few nearby countries if needed
Samsung TV (Tizen) options
Samsung’s Tizen OS doesn’t allow native VPN apps. Use one of these:
- Router VPN: Protect all devices at once. See Router setup
- SmartDNS: Use NordVPN’s SmartDNS to unblock supported streaming apps on your TV (privacy is not the same as a VPN)
- Ethernet/Wi‑Fi sharing: Share a VPN connection from a PC/Mac to your TV
Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Download NordVPN from the Amazon Appstore
- Open, sign in, and connect (Quick Connect works well)
- If a streaming app stops working, switch servers or protocols
Chrome extension: when to use it
- The Chrome extension secures only browser traffic (a proxy), not other apps
- It’s useful for quick website access or lightweight browsing privacy
- For full‑device protection (including streaming apps), use the desktop or TV app
TV methods compared
| Method | Privacy Level | Works with Apps | Difficulty |
